Dr. Nana A. Dawson-Andoh is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY33290) with broad clinical training and a commitment to evidence-based therapeutic practices. Her approach is deeply rooted in cultural humility, genuine curiosity, and a collaborative spirit, ensuring that each client’s unique identities and lived experiences are honored throughout the therapeutic process. Dr. Dawson-Andoh’s style is characterized by warmth, openness, and compassion and informed by her educational training in Clinical Psychology at The Pennsylvania State University. She completed her practical training at the San Francisco VA and VA Palo Alto Health Care systems where she gained invaluable experience in crisis intervention and management of suicide risk. She is dedicated to fostering self-awareness and resilience, especially among individuals with intersecting marginalized identities. She integrates an understanding of systemic factors – such as power, oppression, and acculturation – into her work. Dr. Dawson-Andoh works to help clients explore the impact of these forces on their mental health and relationships in order to ensure that therapy is both personally meaningful and culturally responsive.

Dr. Dawson-Andoh’s therapeutic practice draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), interpersonal and psychodynamic therapies, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Her clinical expertise includes the treatment of depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, PTSD, and adjustment to life transitions, with a particular focus on the emotional and relational patterns that shape clients’ lives. Dr. Dawson-Andoh works to empower clients by building on their strengths, with an emphasis on goal setting and exploration of interpersonal dynamics.

Having lived in Ghana, Canada, and across the United States, Dr. Dawson-Andoh brings a global perspective to her practice.
