Amanda Hilberg, Psy.D.
Dr. Hilberg is a clinical psychologist and supervisor who provides specialized, evidence-based psychotherapy for adults. She has expertise in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), insomnia, and depression. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP/ExRP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness elements when working with clients. Dr. Hilberg is a graduate of the International OCD Foundation’s Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) and has advanced training in Perinatal Mental Health.
Dr. Hilberg received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D Consortium and served as a researcher and study clinician at Stanford University’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences program throughout her doctoral training. She continued research endeavours with Stanford faculty subsequent to graduation and values maintaining scholarly activity while serving predominantly in clinical roles.
She completed her APA-accredited clinical internship at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX where she received specialty training in the treatment of anxiety disorders, PTSD, behavioral medicine, and neuropsychology. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Austin Anxiety and OCD Specialists in Austin, Texas, providing outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) evidence-based treatment for a wide range of anxiety-related diagnoses. She also served as a supervisor to graduate and post-doctoral students, and remained engaged in academic research.
Dr. Hilberg fuses warmth, empathy, and humor in developing strong therapeutic relationships with her clients. She emphasizes a collaborative and tailored treatment approach with each individual, understanding that each client is an expert on their own experience and that therapy is a partnership. Dr. Hilberg works to ensure that her clients feel safe and understood from the outset of that partnership She also strongly values understanding her clients as whole people, inside and outside of the therapy room, and invites collaboration with families, schools, and other treatment providers to ensure optimal client care.
In her spare time, Dr. Hilberg enjoys baking homemade sourdough bread, exploring architecture in different neighborhoods, and spending time with her family.
