Dr. Tanera van Diggelen (she/ her/hers) is a postdoctoral fellow who specializes in anxiety, OCD, trauma, poor body image, disordered eating, insomnia, depression, low self-esteem, and significant life transitions. As a clinician, she is collaborative, non-judgmental, kind and gentle-natured, an excellent listener, and well-organized. Dr. van Diggelen is supervised by Dr. Elise Gibbs and Dr. Aquila Richardson, psychologists with similar expertise.
Dr. van Diggelen uses a behavioral approach and integrates mindfulness and self-compassion interventions. She has specialized training in gold-standard evidence-based treatments including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (EXRP), prolonged exposure for PTSD (PE), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and mindful self-compassion (MSC).
Dr. van Diggelen earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium, where she trained and contributed to research in specialty clinics. These included Stanford’s Center for Integrative Medicine, Stanford’s Eating Disorders Research Program, De Anza College’s Mental Health and Wellness Center, Kaiser specialty clinics, and VA clinics.
Dr. van Diggelen enjoys working with diverse populations, including individuals holding marginalized identities and those impacted by immigration and acculturation stressors. She uses a trauma-informed, culturally-humble style and thoughtfully adapts sessions based on each client’s most pressing needs.
