Elise Bisbee, Psy.D.
Dr. Bisbee is a licensed psychologist (PSY26908) with expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments for adults with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and sleep-related issues.
Dr. Bisbee received her B.A. in psychology from Southern Methodist University. She earned her Psy.D. at the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology and completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Durham VA Medical Center. She worked for the Veteran’s Health Administration for nearly ten years before moving into the private sector. Dr. Bisbee has experience treating adults with generalized anxiety and chronic worry, specific fears and phobias, panic, obsessions and compulsions, social anxiety, PTSD, sleep-related problems, depression, and issues related to life stress and adjustment.
Dr. Bisbee’s treatment approach emphasizes empirically-based treatments designed to improve unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Treatment is client-centered and individually tailored to reduce symptoms and improve life functioning. She has advanced training in the treatment of individuals attempting to overcome trauma or significant life stressors, and has specialty training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Dr. Bisbee has received training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and often integrates mindfulness-based techniques into treatment.
