Dr. Chu is a licensed psychologist (PSY26832) specializing in evidence-based interventions for adults with mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. She has expertise in the treatment of panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), specific phobias, depression, perfectionism, and life transitions. She is deeply committed to providing culturally affirming and responsive care to clients of diverse backgrounds. Dr. Chu views therapy as a collaborative process that seeks to empower clients to embrace their authentic selves and to build the lives they want to live.

Dr. Chu received her B.A. in Psychology from UC Berkeley, her M.A. in Counseling and Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, and her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium. She completed her predoctoral internship at UC Santa Cruz and her postdoctoral fellowship at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City. Dr. Chu specializes in implementing evidence-based psychotherapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Dr. Chu’s therapeutic approach emphasizes a warm, compassionate, and client-centered stance to help clients learn new skills to improve their functioning and quality of life. She provides a comfortable, non-judgmental, and supportive space for exploration and discussion of the client’s issues. She also emphasizes a strength-based approach to treatment in which clients build upon strengths and resiliency and use these positive qualities to overcome obstacles and attain personal growth.
